How does the automatic clock-in actually work?+
Each of your locations gets a FlowClock device. Employees place their phone in the device to clock in — no badge, kiosk, or button — and take it back out to clock out.
What if an employee doesn't have their phone, or has wireless turned off?+
They can clock in manually, or a manager can clock them in. Owners have the option to allow managers to clock in without placing their phone in the FlowClock device.
Will this drain my phone’s battery?+
This kind of continuous proximity scanning is designed to sip very little power — it's the same category of low-power wireless technology used in things like fitness trackers and AirTags.
Can managers see the whole schedule, or just their own team?+
Owners and admins see everything. Managers see the full company schedule (so they can find coverage and offer shifts), but time-off approvals and direct reports are scoped to their own team. Views are customizable, so each manager can set things up the way that works best for them.
How do breaks work?+
You set paid and unpaid break allowances per shift length. Employees start and end breaks from the app, and FlowClock keeps paid time separate from unpaid time automatically in every report.
How do I get hours into payroll?+
The Reports page exports a CSV of hours for any date range — per shift or summarized per employee per day — ready to import into whatever payroll tool you already use.
What happens if the device loses power or breaks?+
A manager can turn on the emergency WiFi backup, which lets employees keep clocking in from their phones without interruption.
Is there a contract, or can we cancel anytime?+
You can cancel anytime — there’s no contract.
How long is the free trial, and does it need a credit card to start?+
The free trial is one month, no credit card required.
Does clock-in still work if the location's WiFi/internet is down?+
Yes — the FlowClock device doesn't need WiFi to run, so clock-in keeps working even if the location's internet goes down.
Is there a limit on locations or employees?+
No — there’s no limit on locations or employees.
Is the mobile app on both iOS and Android?+
Yes — FlowClock is available on both iOS and Android.
